Happy Birthday Kali Elizabeth

On March 29th was Kali's birthday. She turned the big 11 this year. Dalton of course had to help her blow out her candles. She got a bike for her birthday, and yesterday she wrecked and skinned her elbow all up.

More Elk Pictures

Here is a picture of everyone on the sleigh, it was pulled by two clydesdale horses, but I forgot to take a picture of the horses. Here is also a picture of the biggest bull elk.

Hardware Ranch, Elk Winter Feeding Area

On February 7th we went to Logan for Tory's birthday. On Saturday we went to the Hardware Ranch, where they feed the elk in the winter to keep them out of Cache Valley. They had 475 head of Elk that they feed every day. They said that earlier in the winter they had around 600 but because of the warm weather some had already left. We got to ride on a sleigh pulled by horses and get real close to the elk. Here are some of the pictures I took.

Darla Palooza Week

I learned from Brock that a birthday should last more than a day, you should drag it out as long as you can, so we had "Darla Palooza Week". On my birthday Lori, Jennifer and Becky and their families came over, and Becky made me a cake, so I wouldn't have to make my own. Becky you are so nice, we love you. Casey took me out to eat at Don Pedros, and it was really good. Here is a picture of the cake Becky made and some of the Grandkids. Becky's kids weren't here when we took the picture, they had gone to see a movie.

Random Cute Photos

Ashley, Amanda and David went to the dollar store and bought these cool glasses. They were really proud of them, especially David.

Brooklyn, Jennifer and Kali on Christmas Eve. Kali was wearing her new Christmas eve pajamas. Kali loves pajamas and would wear them 24-7 if she could...wouldn't we all?

Kali's Carmel Recipe

Today Kali wanted to make carmel, so I helped her a little, but she made it mostly by herself. I just poured the hot carmel into the pan. It is real easy to make...and yummy!

Here is the recipe-

Microwave Caramels

1/2 cup white butter

1/2 cup white corn syrup

1/2 cup white sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk

1/2 cup pecans, chopped. (optional)

1. Using microwave-safe dish or large measuring cup, melt butter

2. Add syrup, sugars and milk. Stir well and microwave for 6-8 minutes. If you want soft caramels microwave 6-7 minutes and if you want harder caramels microwave for 8 minutes.

3. Pour into sprayed 8" X 8" dish and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

4. Cut into pieces. If you find it too firm to cut, warm in the microwave oven 30 seconds at a time until you reach desired consistency.

5. Caramels can be dipped into melted chocolate or individually wrapped in wax paper ( twist the ends)
